Three Les Pauls Video Shoot – Behind The Scenes
I was just looking through some photos and came across these, taken during my shoot for my Three Les Pauls video. I was really happy with how that video turned out.

Strap locks are an indispensable investment for any guitar. There’s nothing worse than having your strap twist free, and your guitar drop to the ground.
On my Les Pauls, I used the Dunlop Dual Design strap locks. They worked fine for a Les Paul, as they attached on the guitar horn, rather than on the back of the guitar. But on my new SG, I needed something different.
Really loving the sound and feel of my new SG!
In this 1991 Guitar World interview, when asked about being responsible for having sold “more SG’s than just about anyone in the world”, Angus replied:
Yeah, well I have been thinking about opening a store, a brown SG shop. We’ve got every color you want — as long as it’s brown!
My new 2013 Gibson SG Future Tribute has Steinberger gearless tuners.
They look a little goofy, but they’re really easy to re-string, hold their tuning great, and are very easy to tune.
Here are the instructions for restringing:
Continuing a tradition of birthday guitars, I received my new Gibson SG this week. This is the 2013 “Future Tribute” model.
Let’s get one thing out of the way, right up front. “Future Tribute” is one the most ridiculous guitar model names I’ve ever heard.
Seriously, before I even received the guitar, I ordered a replacement truss rod cover blank (Gibson part #PRTR-010), so I won’t have to ever see that all-caps “FUTURE” on my guitar 🙂
These Stupid Deal of the Day messages from Musician’s Friend are dangerous!
I sorta lost my mind a little when I saw this. $499 for a USA Gibson SG?! Ok, I’ll give it a go. MF has a great return policy, so nothing to lose.
On order!
Today, Les Paul would’ve been 100 years old.
One of the many inspiring stories about Les Paul: at the young age of 33, he was in a terrible car accident and shattered his right arm and elbow. They couldn’t rebuild his elbow and he was offered the choice to amputate. Instead he had them set his arm permanently at a 90 degree angle so he could still play guitar. Despite the long recovery and his “handicap”, he continued to play guitar until his death at age 94. That’s dedication! More
So, I had my first train-wreck on stage with the HD500X. This was at the Twin Creeks Spring Carnival, so not exactly a high-pressure situation with a huge crowd, but still…
The first song in the set was Lonely Boy, in which I use a HD500X patch with the expression pedal as a pitch dive (heel original pitch, toe dive-bomb). More
My Gibson Les Paul Studio has a gorgeously lustrous glossy nitrocellulose lacquer finish. This is a premium finish. Or so I thought! Recently I noticed that the bottom edges of the guitar body are showing some damage. My heart sank a little bit to see my treasured Les Paul disfigured like this. More
My Blackstar Stage 60 is a 3-channel amp, but with the additional gain switch on OD2, it’s effectively a 3 1/2 channel or 4 channel amp, depending on how you look at it. I absolutely love this flexibility! Blackstar’s catchphrase is “the sound in your head”, and it’s true. I’m really happy with the sounds I can get from this bad boy. I’ve put my overdrive and distortion pedals back in storage, as I can get everything I need from the Stage 60’s channels. More
